The Ropin' Fool..........................
Will's roping act is virtually impossible to describe, and the way to appreciate the complexity and artistry it combined is to see the various tricks in one of his early silent films, The Ropin' Fool, in which he did fifty-three of them, ranging from the simple to the impossible. What comes across in this film, as it did to the vaudeville crowds to which Will was playing, is combination of almost unbelievable timing, skill, and amazing grace, along with an ability to figure out a series of actions that produce, at times, enormously complex results.
