Repositories..............................

The sacred books of Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and the Veda are the best repositories of the ideas that mattered most to our ancestors, and to ignore them is an act of childish conceit.

-Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi,  Finding Flow

the One.................................

“Those who believe that the world of being is governed by luck or chance and that it depends upon material causes are far removed from the divine and from the notion of the One.”

-Plotinus,   The Enneads

Diagrams.......................................

Lunar Eclipse diagram from Abu Rayhan al-Biruni, dating to 1019 AD.  The Wiki translation of the writing reads: Why – why the increase and decrease of the light of the moon is settled while other stars don't behave so, observing these and not understanding the spirit of these is a misdeed   that the light of the stars is of their own

Found this while thumbing through Scott Christianson's 100 Diagrams That Changed the World
