Any suggestions.........................?

Thanks to Doug and Kurt for their kind notices.  While we have some ideas, we are not entirely sure what to do with this.  55,000 square feet of space on three floors.  Includes one very old gymnasium (right out of the movie Hoosiers) that holds significant and historical community memories.  Creative and constructive ideas are always appreciated.

  1. We have a similar older school building here in our town that sat empty for years when the school district reassembled itself. It was rented for a time by another private school until it completed its own building in a different town in our county. Now they're thinking of using it for senior housing.

My thoughts - turn the classrooms into artists-in-residence space. Convert to residences/lofts, galleries, creative start-up businesses where they can sell their paintings, jewelry, clothing, handcrafts.

The gymnasium can be used as exhibition space for local events or out-of-town event planners. Can also be used as a performing arts space for theatre and music. For years, my wife and I would visit The Wooster Group based in the Performing Garage here in NYC. We sat in bleacher-type seating while watching original plays by up and coming writers and actors. Founding members included writer/actorSpalding Gray and actor Willem Dafoe.

It may not be practical financially - but I've never been accused of that quality. :)

    Just my thoughts...
